SANGUISORBA

If you’re looking for a plant with interesting foliage, a neat growth habit and unusual flowers, with names such as ‘Stand Up Comedian’, ‘Pink Tickler’ and ‘Martin’s Mulberry’, how about Sanguisorba!

Flowers range from white, through shades of pink to rich maroon, are held above tidy mounds of foliage, and resemble tiny drumsticks, catkins or fluffy squirrel tails.

With heights varying from 30cm to 180cm, they are helpful for both the front and back of the border. They’re not fussy about soil type and prefer a moist but well-drained site in full sun or part shade.

Cut back to the base in autumn, and propagate by division in spring.

Visitors can see our collection of Sanguisorba throughout the summer into early autumn.
